A great way to get a thorough yet gentle exfoliation is to add a half a teaspoon of baking soda to your cleanser and massage into your skin.  The abraisiveness of the baking soda will help remove dead skin and absorb oil in a gentle manner.

At the end of a tube of lipstick and you can't find the same colour?  Use a clean knife to dig the rest of the lipstick out of the tube.  Place the extra in an empty pill container or a tiny sample sized jar.  When you need the lipstick, apply it with a lip brush.  You get almost twice the use with what's left in the tube!

Always keep your makeup in a place that is dry and cool.  Heat and humidity causes products to degrade faster, which forms a breeding ground for bacteria.

If you're doing a smokey eye, and you find that sometimes you end up with a dusting of eyeshadow on your cheeks, try priming your eye and doing your eye makeup before you do your foundation and blush.  Or, dust extra loose powder under your eyes to make a powder guard before you start.  Once shadow is complete, wisk away extra powder with a fluffy brush.

Want super shiny hair?  Try using a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove dulling build up.  You can also try letting your hair dry about 75% naturally and finish with a blowdryer on a low heat setting.  Finish off with a blast of cool air by using a dryer with a cool shot button.  Try a light spritz of shine spray, just dont use too much or hair will look greasy.

Not sure how long you have been using the same tube of mascara?  Chances are it's time to replace it.  A mascara lasts about 3 months.  If it smells off, chances are it's full of bacteria.  Most mascaras have preservatives in them to help prevent the bacteria from invading, but after a while it is inevitable that the product will expire.

Not sure if you can pull of a certain shadow colour?  Try using the shade as a liner with a more neutral  shade.  It will let you get used to a new colour without going too far out of your comfort zone.
